
Alexandra Rose Raisman was born on May 25, 1994. She is a retired American artist gymnast. She was the captain of the 2012 "Fierce Five" and the 2016 "Final Five" U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics teams, who have won individual team competitions.At the 2012 Olympics in London, she won gold medals for the team and floor competitions, as well as the bronze medal on the balance beam, which made her the most accomplished American gymnast to compete at the Games. She was awarded a gold team medal during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Gabby Douglas and Raisman are the only Americans to have two consecutive gold medals in this event. Raisman was also awarded silver in the individual all-around and for floor exercise. She is the third most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, just behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles, with six Olympic medals.Raisman was also part of the gold-winning American teams in the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and the bronze medalist in the world championships in floor exercise in 2011. She also is a two time national champion in floor exercise (2012 and 2015) as well as the champion of the national team in balance beam in 2012. She also is five times a medalist at the national championships for all-around (silver bronze, silver 2011 and in 2015). Inducted into The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
